We have 3 main goals while raising our puppies. The first being to ensure all our puppies are Confident, second Healthy, and third that our puppies go to loving homes where they are set up to succeed. We love using a blend of the BAB (Bad Ass Breeder Program) Puppy culture curriculum and Potty training with the Misty method to achieve all those goals.

Our first goal is to establish confidence in all of our puppies. I once heard that an aggressive dog is not just an inherently mean dog. It’s usually a fearful or very stressed dog. We believe this is absolutely true. It is our responsibility as breeders and puppy owners to help puppies gain confidence with all types of new things and situations so they can be set up to succeed in all walks of life.

We exposed them to new sounds, smells, new objects and situations such as. Loud kids, abrupt loud noises such as banging on pans. New objects that might be noisy or move unexpectedly. New experiences such as playing outside for the first time, climbing stairs, going for car rides. We know and have seen that all puppies can grow in confidence with the right nurturing and curriculum. We have seen even the most hesitant puppies become brave, curious that have gone on to be very well rounded, confident family pets.

Our second goal is to make sure all our parent dogs and puppies are healthy physically and genetically. We do extensive genetic testing with Animal Genetics and Embark to ensure that our parent dogs do not pass on any genetic health conditions. We also take our dogs to a Reproduction specialist vet for further testing, examinations, breedings, ultrasounds pregnancy x-rays. puppy health exams, and vaccinations. Their knowledge and experience is extensive and we feel so lucky to have a specialist close by.

We also use the Misty Method for potty training. This technique is taught by using the puppies’ very own instincts. Think of wolves in the wild and how they dig a den for the puppies to grow up in, well for the first few week while the puppies are newborns the mom will stimulate and clean up all of their potty messes, but as the puppies start getting older, they have a natural instinct to toddle away from their bedding area and eventually they will start eliminating away from the den. All dogs have this incredible instinct to keep their bedding clean. They don’t want to sleep in a wet stinky bed. So as soon as our puppies are old enough we start introducing a bedding area with toys and comfortable blankets. And a potty area that first starts as puppy pads, then litter tray and lastly a litter tray in a separate area where the puppies have to climb through a hole to get to it along with starting to go potty outside. With each potty area transition we increase the size of their bedding/play area as they successfully keep it clean. Which makes it so easy for you to transition to kennel training when you take them home because they already understand the basics of keeping their bedding/small play area clean. We ensure if you continue to nurture your puppies confidence with handling exercises, exposure activities and staying consistent with potty training. You will be astonished at how smart, well rounded and easy these puppies can be.
